HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT TOO!
With a tagline like that - who wouldn’t want to try ProCakes?
So what is it?
The official answer is: ProCakes is a high protein pancake mix that is designed to help satisfy hunger and cravings while enhancing your diet with the protein your body needs to stay lean and healthy.
But to me, it sounded like the perfect comfort food. It’s a pancake mix that’s high in protein, carb smart, gluten-free, and has no added sugar. Everything a fit girl wants in a pancake and more!
So - the big questions I know you are all asking is: How do they taste?!
Actually - they are really, really good! They have a slight cinnamon taste and are thick, yet light and fluffy.
I’m normally an egg eater in the AM because they’re packed with protein and low in carbs, but I could definitely get used to a batch of these cakes every week. In just one serving of ProCakes with 1 egg and 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk I got 19.33 grams of protein! That my friends, is pure stackable awesomeness!!
But the awesomeness doesn’t stop there. I had some extra batter left over, so I decided to make a savory crepe for lunch with spinach, ham, and manchego cheese and it was pure AWESOMESAUCE! Here’s the recipe:
Spinach, Ham & Cheese Crepe
Ingredients:
- 1/2 - 1 serving of ProCakes Protein Pancake Mix (depending on how thick you like your crepes)
- Handful organic baby spinach
- 2 slices Applegate ham
- 1/4 cup manchego, shredded
Directions:
Heat skillet over medium heat. Stir together ProCakes mix according to package and pour into heated skillet (make sure to cover the entire bottom of skillet with mix). Cook until bubbles start to form then place spinach, ham, and cheese on 1/2 of crepe. Flip other half of crepe on top and continue cooking until cheese is melted. Serve & enjoy!
This was a HUGE hit for lunch today and something I will definitely be making again soon. Maybe next time I’ll try a new variation like chicken/artichoke/sun-dried tomato or sausage/apple/cheese or possibly a peanut butter/banana/chocolate dessert! The options are really endless.
Bottom Line: I highly recommend ProCakes for those of you looking to add some comfort food into your diet without sacrificing protein and without overdoing the amount of net carbs. They taste great and can be used in a variety of ways.
