Ever since I attended the FitBloggin’ 14 conference I have been dying to get my hands on the Nutri Ninja. The crew in the Ninja Kitchen made the smoothest Coconut Mango Energyade and I knew it would be a perfect addition to my Ninja Mega Kitchen System that I purchased last year. So, you can imagine how thrilled I was when I received a complimentary Nutri Ninja to review just one week before I left for Atlanta!
So what is a Nutri Ninja?
I like to think of the Nutri Ninja as a cross between a blender, a juicer, and food processor. It works very similar to the Magic Bullet, except it’s more powerful. Foods like fruits, veggies, seeds and greens can be blended in seconds.. Anything frozen can be blended with just a few pulses and it chops evenly making drinks, soups, and dressings silky smooth.
The Pros:
- The Nutri Ninja has a 900 watts in power and comes with 2 HUGE cups - 18 oz & 24 oz, both with lids and both BPA free.
- The blades are stainless steel and you can throw it in the dishwasher or put some soap and water in the cup and clean with just a few pulses.
- It can blend up whole foods, seeds, and ice in just a few seconds. It’s REALLY fast!
- It can be used for more than just smoothies! So far, I’ve made salad dressings, frozen drinks, chopped nuts, sauces and dips.
- Recipe book is included to get your kitchen creativity flowing.
The Cons:
- The threads of the cup lids are on the outside so it is sometimes challenging to screw on without making a small mess. This is a minor con to me - to work around it I just wipe the threads of the cup once everything is mixed up and then the lid screws on perfectly.
Overall I am really loving the Nutri Ninja. I’ve only had it for a week or two, but so far it’s an excellent addition to my counter top (without taking up too much space)!
To try my new Ninja - I decided to use up what I had left in the house before we moved and came up with a brand new pesto sauce that I think you’ll enjoy.
Spinach Walnut Pesto
Ingredients:
- 1.5 cups baby spinach
- 2 garlic cloves, peeled & crushed
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1/3 cup pecorino romano, shredded
- 1/3 cup walnuts
- juice and zest from 1/4 lemon wedge
Directions: Place all items in 18 oz Ninja cup and pulse until blended well.
