Back To Square One

The time has come.

Baby Anastasia is 6 weeks old and the Doc gave me clearance to return to normal. For me, that is basically a big neon sign flashing TIME TO GET OFF YOUR ASS AND GET BACK IN SHAPE!

I actually did pretty well throughout the entire pregnancy with my fitness.  I worked out pretty hardcore until the beginning of month 7 and then moved over to shorter workouts until the end of month 8. But by the time month 9 rolled in I was tapped out.

I carried the baby in the very front and, even with my support belt, anything besides waddling and swimming was 86’d. The 90° Georgia weather wasn’t much of a help either. (Note to Georgians: DO NOT be pregnant in your 3rd trimester during the summer if you can help it…it’s brutal!)

So here I am, 6 weeks postpartum, and it feels like I didn’t workout at all! I’VE GOT MAJOR BODY IMAGE PROBLEMS AND THE THOUGHT OF HAVING TO LOSE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF WEIGHT AGAIN IS JUST EXHAUSTING.

You would think that I would remember just how pregnant you look AFTER you give birth, but apparently I blocked that out after the first child. Turns out I also blocked out the ridiculous lack of sleep the first month home. Smh.

But the time has come for me to put on my big girl panties and get my butt on the mat while simultaneously cutting out the sweets and fries. It will be interested to see which one is harder to do!

Here’s my plan for the rest of the month:

  • Workout every other day for 60 minutes
  • Increase my water intake to 1/2 my weight (in ounces) daily
  • Cut out sweets, except dark chocolate 1x/week
  • Nix the fries and other starchy carbs
  • Keep complex carbs low and increase healthy fats and increase lean protein

I’m also going to start holding weekly FACEBOOK LIVE sessions to help keep me accountable. I’d love it if you came and hung out with me! I could seriously use the accountability and I’d like to share what’s working and what’s not and see what’s worked for you all. If you’re interested they’ll be every Thursday at 12:30pm EST on the Body Rebooted Facebook Page. 🙂

Alright, I’ve vented and moaned and bitched and I’m ready to take this body and get it back to its former state. Wish me luck and if you want to ride this journey with me, don’t forget to join us on Thursdays or just head over to BodyRebooted on facebook and watch the replay!

xo,Christina

  3. When I had twins 7 years ago, I didn’t even think about starting back with exercise and mindful eating until they were like 5-6 months old….so 6 weeks is amazing!! You are very inspirational!!!

  10. Sounds like a great plan! I did yoga after my second child and that helped me get back into shape really quick. I started off going 3 days per week and then I moved up to 4 days per week. I also made a few changes in my diet similar to yours.

  11. We should have more courageous people like you. You make a difference. Though, weight gain has never been an issue for me.., I always seem to have stuck with those last 5 pounds you know. 🙂

  12. I could not imagine doing all this just 6 weeks after having a baby. I have a cesarean but even if I didnt I could not get into a program and be so disciplined. You are one tough cookie!

  15. You’re amazing for simply working out while pregnant. I have fallen off severely but I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I’m sure you have your own insecurities (like the rest of us) but to everyone else you look great! Keep it up.
